Team OG emerged from the remnants of a lesser-known team called (Monkey) Business. The team's architects, Tal Aizik (Fly) and Johan Sundstein (N0tail), first crossed paths while playing Heroes of Newerth. They later joined a Dota 2 team, Fnatic. After numerous team changes without sustained success, they opted for a strategic shift. In August 2015, they established a new entity named (monkey) Business, intending it to be their pathway to eSports stardom.
Two months later, this team was dissolved due to a lack of results. Little did Tal and Johan realize this was the genesis of their legendary Team OG. The Ascent of a Giant
This remarkable run occurred during the 2015/2016 season. Team OG achieved a remarkable feat that many teams could only aspire to in their inaugural season. Within that period, they secured first place in DreamLeague Season 4 and triumphed at the Frankfurt Major 2015. Following this initial success, the team experienced a brief plateau before re-emerging strongly to clinch the DreamLeague Season 5 title, the Manila Major 2016, and ESL Frankfurt 2016.
Consequently, OG earned a spot at The International 2016, a tournament where they were widely considered the frontrunners. However, they did not win the tournament and were unfortunately eliminated after two consecutive losses.
Displeased with the outcome, OG made necessary adjustments to their roster. Miracle-, Cr1t, and MoonMeander were replaced by Anathan "ana" Pham, Jesse "Jerax" Vainikka, and Gustav "s4" Magnusson.
Further Restructuring (2020 to Present in Singapore)
In 2020, ana took a break from Team OG for an extended hiatus until the commencement of the next Dota Pro Circuit season. JerAx retired from the competitive scene, and Ceb shifted his focus towards mentoring other players. Saksa Sazdov, MidOne Nai Zheng, and Sumail Hassan stepped in to fill these roles.
Sumail departed the team in July 2020, with Ceb returning to the active roster. MidOne left the lineup in March 2021, and Ana made a brief comeback before announcing his retirement in June.
